Insert Tape- The use of insert tape for the thumb hole I feel is very important. Having a good tight grip on the ball I feel is a must to a relaxed swing. Using white textured tape on the gripping side of the hole works best for me. It gives you something to hold onto without really having to grip tightly. The best fit would have your thumb exit the ball smoothly without hanging up or slipping off. If the ball feels like it is slipping, add a piece of tape. If you feel that it is a little snug, remove a piece. This is much easier and less costly than altering your grip unless you drill your own.
Reaching a pattern of consistent performance at your highest level requires
true conviction amd passion.
Observation and a willingness to experiment are two important things for any
bowler. While bowling watch all the other players and their ball reaction, even
shots that miss the target. Sometimes a ball that misses the target will hook
back into the pocket. Try a shot that is near that hook area, this may be the
shot for that lane condition. Secondly try shots that are five or 10 boards that
play differently than normal. Most importantly you must be able to know when
you throw a bad shot or a good one. Never make adjustments based on a
poor shot.
People think they don’t need to practice. They will just get better through osmosis.
Then they gripe because their average doesn’t go up. They may call warm-up
before league practice. Practice is a concentrated, goal-driven, specific time
devoted to the improvement of your skill level. It is not putting in your time
in a warm-up session before league.
EPSOM SALTS simple and yet often overlooked home remedy. These can be added
to your bath. Or for just soaking your feet, dissolve them in a basin of hot water.
They also help sore hands and thumbs due to excessive strain from bowling.
I have used them for knee and ankle pain and found them helpful.
