Part of the challenge in creating new professional bowlers is that most
of the house conditions today simply to easy; they don’t give bowlers the
opportunity to learn to play different shots and adjust their games to
compete when the lanes don’t fit their natural tendencies. A good example
of that was the U.S. Open, in which many house bowlers competed but
few could average 200. A remedy for this situation would be for more people
to bowl on Sport Bowling conditions, which many centers around the country
are now offering in selected leagues. Unfortunately, many bowlers have
inflated egos, and refuse to compete on such lane conditions.
