Number 1: If you’re not having fun when you are bowling, then stop Bowling
Number 2: When you practice, you practice for free. You don’t practice for ball reaction; you don’t practice for strikes, or anything like that. You practice going through your approach and feeling the same thing over and over again. So the bad things becomes a natural feel for you. So, I suggest that you go through your motions without the ball to see what it feels like. Then go get your bowling ball and go through your motions with the ball. Make sure you have the same feeling with and without the ball.

The main thing to focus on when you practice is repeating good shots, not so much on how many pins you knock down. Just keep a good rhythm where you will be able to repeat shots over and over again. Also, practice on playing different parts of the lane whenever you are bowling.

The biggest tip I can give any bowler that is looking to take their game to the next level is the three “P” and they are: Practice, Patience, and Perseverance. They are the most important ingredients, I believe that any bowler looking to improve their game, should focus on. They are all intertwined together. To put it simply, I believe the harder you work, the more you work at it, and the more you fight through adversity, the greater the satisfaction in the long run.

Get advice from your knowledgeable friends who know your game. They can always point out things. Some people are afraid to give information, You can ask them: “You know my game, what do you think I need to work on?” And go from there.

The first thing look for is to focus…. right on what you are trying to do. whatever it is your target, hand release or practice. Read books about positive thinking. You always have that little demon on your shoulder who wants to give you negative thoughts. You have yo learn to shut that out of your conscious mind. Let your subconscious bowl. That’s where all your information is. That’s your computer. The conscious mind is always giving you negative thoughts, so you need to keep it busy with other things so that your subconscious can focus on bowling.

Bowling does not get the respect (for being difficult) that golf does. Bowling CAN be a very difficult game. On the golf putting green, you can see the undulations on the greens. In bowling you cannot. So you have to learn from your own abilities and that’s what makes our game very, very tough. Then, the lane conditions are very different. There is no wind to see’ as there is on a golf course. You don’t see the hazards. So you have to learn the game under different conditions…sport bowling, house conditions, tournament conditions. There is a lot in this game that people just don’t understand. They have to respect our game as being a challenge, no just an easy beer-drinking sport.
