“Active” or “Reactive”?Are you the type of person who waits for something to happen?
Or, are you the type of person that makes something happen?
An example of this would be: Do you go to the dentist regularly for check-ups? Or, do you go to the dentist ONLY when you have a problem?
Another example is visiting the doctor: Do you have regular check-ups? Or, are you the type of person that only sees a doctor when there is a problem?
And lastly, how about your car: Do you take it in regularly for maintenance? Or, do you wait for something to fall apart before seeking the mechanical help that you need?
Those were all common sense questions that I am sure you all can relate to.
This month’s column is about “Goals”. Your own personal “Bowling Goals”, which are mentioned frequently in some of my other columns.
Improving your game is NOT just going to happen. You must work at it. In order to work at it, you must have a plan. That plan should be established through the setting of Goals.
The Goals should be in 3-stages:
A). IMMEDIATE GOALS:
What can you do right away to start improving? Write some things down that you can do right away to start improving. Stay with your plan and do what you set out to do. Each time that you complete one of your ‘Immediate Goals’, replace that one with another one. Stay after them with hard work, desire and dedication.
B). SECONDARY GOALS:
Write down a list of things that you want to have accomplished in, let’s say: six (6) months. That could be an assortment of things that you can strive for. Be realistic with your these Goals and base them on your individual priorities. Once you have accomplished “these” in 6-months, replace them with others. Keep these lists someplace where you will see them daily.
C). ULTIMATE GOALS:
Dream. Fantasize. What do you really want to accomplish? ONLY YOU can accomplish it. “IT” can be done, based on how hard you want to work at it. Unless you are fortunate enough to have a Personal Coach or a Personal Trainer, you will have to motivate yourself with this.
IF you want it bad enough and you follow those suggested Goals, you WILL improve.
BUT, remember, it isn’t just going to “happen”. It’s ALL up to YOU to make it HAPPEN!!!!!
