One area which has received little or no attention is in the backend portion of the
lane. Many centers have been tilting their pindecks form back to front and reducing
the depth of their flat gutters to the minimum tolerance. If the USBC would restrict
the pindeck tilt level and increase the minimum depth of the gutters, this would
drastically reduce the scoring without hurting the ability of bowlers to hit the
pocket. In order to score, bowlers would have to learn more about pocket entry
angle to achieve strikes. To be fair to proprietors, USBC should give centers a one
-year grace period to make these changes.
