Observation and a willingness to experiment are two important things for any
bowler. While bowling watch all the other players and their ball reaction, even
shots that miss the target. Sometimes a ball that misses the target will hook
back into the pocket. Try a shot that is near that hook area, this may be the
shot for that lane condition. Secondly try shots that are five or 10 boards that
play differently than normal. Most importantly you must be able to know when
you throw a bad shot or a good one. Never make adjustments based on a
poor shot.
